Paint the Town Green!

sage

On April 20 & 21 Manhattan Beach will go green. The 2013 SAGE (Sustainable and Green Environments) will host a free event at the MB National Guard Armory from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This expo is designed to promote the “green lifestyle,” environmentally friendly services, and nutrition. In addition, SAGE emphasizes the importance of eating locally grown foods, the various ways one can incorporate green technology into their daily lives and green practices that will reduce one’s “carbon footprint.”

According to a press release on the SAGE event, Angela Silverman, one of the event organizers, explains the objectives of the environmental expo. She states: “Sage Expo offers goods and products to help make our lives greener so we can enjoy a healthy life while also sustaining our beautiful beach communities and its environment. Mark Lipps, another organizer for the event adds: “Sage has a mission to our community on what local business and organizations have to offer so consumers can lower their monthly utilities and develop a healthy, sustainable lifestyle.”

There will be local vendors at the event including: Pages a Bookstore, Shop Local, doTERRA Essential Oils and Food Truck Connection. Aside from the local and environmentally sound goods and services, Spyder Surfboards will be hosting a fashion show, displaying some of their latest fashions including board shorts that are made from recyclable materials including plastic. Ambassadors for this event include Dave Salzman and Carol Glover from Estate Construction  & Development, LLC, Beach Business Bank, All Yellow Taxi, Beach Cities Web Design, Body Glove, Costal Creations Architecture, DDS Plumbing Inc, Beach Cities Cycling Club Inc,  and more! This event serves as an opportunity for Manhattan Beach locals to come together and learn ways in which they can enhance their lives and simultaneously, save the planet. If interested in becoming a vendor or volunteering for the event please visit the SAGE website! Stay tuned for more blogs from the Dave Salzman Real Estate Team.

New Year’s Resolutions — Local

Well, it’s the second week of the new year and I am just now deciding on my New Year’s Resolutions… Yes, I know, it has taken me awhile. I actually spent the first week deciding if I was going to make any at all, but the universal pull (guilt) has won out.  I have to admit, I am not doing anything unique, it is the usual line up of – consistent exercise, eating lean, taking more time for family, updating and evaluating my volunteer activities and doing my best to support our local community with local purchases and services. My outside-the-box resolution brain has been in low gear, but there is something to be said for keeping up and keeping on with the right things to do.  We are lucky because we are in a place where we have suport services and goods to make all these resolutions happen.   We just thought we would post a few local buisnesses and services where you can support those resolutions right here in 90266.

Gorgeous SOUTH BAY location: 740 Allied Way, El Segundo, CA 90245 (310) 322-6500

Work is already underway. The Vitality City initiative is a three-year process that begins with engaging leaders and understanding what strong programs already exist, then transitions to civic engagement, transformation and innovation.

Let’s Do Lunch!

The other day my colleagues and I were taking a company photo down at the pier because South Bay Magazine is doing a featured story on NW Real Estate Brokers next month! You can expect a blog post about that soon.

After the photo shoot it was time for lunch. Another agent, Taya Asimos, recommended Creme De La Crepe. I had never been there before and decided to give it a try.

I was in the mood for something fresh and healthy, but fulfilling. I ordered the grilled salmon salad, and was so happy I did. The salmon was cooked perfectly; flaky, but still moist, and full of flavor.  If you’re ever on Highland Ave. and are hungry for lunch, Creme De La Crepe does not disappoint! Great food, friendly service, cozy and quaint ambiance, and generous portions.

They also have 2 other locations in the south bay, one on Pier Ave. in Hermosa and another on Catalina Ave. in Redondo. If you’re also a fan of Creme De La Crepe, please post a comment and let us know what else is good on the menu!

Bon appetit!

LOCATION.VIEW.EXQUISITE DESIGN.AND A VALUE?

Whether you are a buyer or you just want to look at beautiful pictures of a home ‘done right,’ take a look at 612 John Street – new on the market.  This home is well designed, tastefully appointed and just simply has the right flow to the living space, not to mention a beautiful master retreat, a resort style pool and a guest house!  The home has recently been purchased by a relocation company and is being marketed at a price that is essentially the same price that it sold for 2 years ago. A reasonably priced/stunning home? Not an oxymoron – just a bright spot in 90266.

Today’s Bright Spot on the Market

Been looking and looking. . .but unable to find your new home in North Redondo? Take a look at these two new listings:  1727 Carlson Lane and 1525 Goodman Avenue.  Carlson is a recently re-freshed, but basically original condition Tall and Skinny. For those who want a great location (one way street and one block from Jefferson Elementary School!) it is a blank canvas that needs color and a personal touch ($679,000).  Several  blocks away at 1525 Goodman, basically the same floor plan, but WOW, the current owners have already added the color and style ($685,000).  Their cozy yard, furnishings and art make this property pop!  As always with real estate decisions there are trade-offs.  We like the Carlson location better, but if you want the already painted palette, Goodman is a wonderful choice!
