Cantina Real is a well- known for their margaritas, great chips and salsa, and for people that have a sweet tooth, Cantina’s deep fried ice-cream. Cantina Real has been around for approximately 50 years and has been owned and operated by Real Blias, 82, and his adult son Steve and daughter Joline.

According to a manager at Cantina Real, the expansion to Manhattan Beach will commence in couple years and will include new additions and/or changes to the menu. If there is a new seafood restaurant in the Southbay, you should check out it is The Hamptons . The Hamptons is a casual Seafood restaurant located on Manhattan Ave. near Mama D’s. If you are a lobster fan, at The Hamptons, you are in luck. Recommended lobster dishes include the Lobster Mac n’ Cheese and the Lobster Roll. The Lobster Mac n Cheese is made with three delicious cheeses including: Mozzarella, Smoked Gouda, and Gruyere; and the Lobster Roll is a great choice and unique to The Hamptons. The inspiration for this dish comes from the restaurant “Lobster Roll” located in Long Island. If you are a fan of clams, management recommends the great flat belly clams, which are flown in directly from Boston to your plate twice a week! Hamptons also serves chicken dishes and filet mignon. There is something for everyone at The Hamptons and fresh food is a top piority.  They serve for the fresh, locally-grown food and do not serve foods that have been GMO modified. As one famous idiom explains: “One’s trash is another person’s treasure.” What is useless to one maybe valuable to another. Artist Bob Van Breda took this expression to a new level when he created his exhibit “JUNK.” This exhibit is a demonstration of creativity and interactive art. One unique feature of “JUNK” is that it allows viewers to look at the art from an interactive perspective, and judge the art.Viewers look at various junk and other items and determine if they have aesthetic significance, cultural value, historical value, or if the items are “simply junk.” This exhibit allows the viewers to see ordinary items in a whole new way, and the interacive quality of the exhibit strengthens the community’s overall understanding of visual arts.

The Creative Arts Center in Manhattan Beach, features art from Local and international artists. The curator for this exhibit is ARTS Manhattan Chairman of the Board, Homeira Goldstein. The exhibit opened this past December and will remain open until February 2, 2013. If you , or anyone you know interested in Art or are curious about learning more about visual Art, The Creative Art center is a great place to bring family and friend. The Exhibit is free, and open to the public. For more information and details of the exhibit, including hours of operation, please visit the announcement page on the City of Manhattan Beach website. It is that Time of Year…

It is that time of year. The New Year is a landmark for most people. The New Year is a stepping stone, a time to reflect on accomplishments of the past year, and a time to make new commitments for self-improvement. Manhattan Beach is not only a great community to live in, but it is a great space for the locals and visitors to make their resolutions come to fruition. For example, one of my new year’s resolutions is to do more cardio workouts. I will accomplish this by making effort to take power walks down the beautiful Manhattan Beach Strand and playing beach volleyball in the summertime.

Another example of a great resolution is to spend more time with family and loved ones; Manhattan Beach is a beach town that offers many family friendly activities including community events such as: Concerts in the Park. Lastly, if a resolution would be to venture out and try new restaurants,  many of the restaurants in downtown Manhattan offer a wide variety of cuisines and that are healthy and taste phenomenal.

New Years is about a fresh start, a “clean slate”. Manhattan Beach is a great beach city to take those first steps in following through with New Year’s resolutions. The landscape and the abundance of opportunities to start new are endless.  Cheers to a new start!  Check  us out at http://www.davesalzman.com Happy new year!
